About MeHi, I'm Kasey! I live in Des Moines, Iowa, where I'm a corporate attorney by day and a blogger by night. I'm a wife to Adam and mama to my favorite littlest guys in the whole world: Ryker James and Maverick Kai. Ryker was born on July 4, 2015 -- yes, a little Fourth of July firecracker -- and he will, at least for a while, think we're the GREATEST parents in the world when we tell him all of the fireworks are for him on his birthday (#parentingwin). Maverick is our newest addition, joining our family on September 5, 2017 and completely outnumbering mama with a house full of boys!
We love our families, we love our church, we love politics (crazy, I know), and we love being outdoors (especially at the family pond in New Virginia, Iowa or on the beach in Grand Cayman!) Together, we are Team Steen! |
My LifeI love to travel, especially to tropical locations where the sea is clear and the SCUBA is great! Outside of my life as an attorney, I am a certified Rescue SCUBA Diver, a water safety instructor, and an overall lover of water. I love the ocean, I love fish, and I love SHARKS! If there is an ocean documentary on TV, I'll be watching. Otherwise, if the sun in shining then you can find me at the pool! Adam and I love to be involved with our church, love to spend time together, and love the title of Mommy and Daddy.

My LoveBecoming a mom has been the greatest thing in the whole world for me. Everyone told me I would be overwhelmed with love the moment I met Ryker, but no one could have ever prepared me for how that overwhelming love truly feels -- or how much it multiplies when you add another little one to the family! The love of a mom is indescribable, and the most amazing love I've ever felt. I feel so blessed to be a mom, and blessed to share my life with three awesome guys!

Our DiagnosisOn December 8, 2015, our lives changed forever when we heard the words, "Ryker has Joubert Syndrome." Labeled a "rare genetic disease," Joubert Syndrome affects less than 1,000 people worldwide. Receiving a diagnosis like this for your child, in our case our first child, can be heartbreaking, crushing, and downright devastating. But, like with anything, you can choose to worry and live your life in fear, or you can accept it, WITH FAITH AND GRATITUDE, giving thanks for every step along the way!
